Fall Junque

With cooler night time temps, the beginning of school and a Packer's football opener Win, I can't help but want to bring out some of my fall decorations.

I don't have as much as I thought I did. Which is in a way, a good thing.... less 'junque'. (Doesn't junque spelled that way make it 'seem' more elegant that the crap it really is?) But now that I'm a huge fan of Pinterest, I have been spotting some new ideas, so this may just be the beginning of my front porch fall make-over.

I made this wreath a few years ago. Did I tell you I have a certificate in Floral Design? Don't know if I actually have the certificate, but before Bubba was born, I went to MATC.... Milwaukee Area Technical College and took two sessions on Floral Design... who da thunk? I loved going to class!

I priced a completed wreath like this at Hobby Lobby and it was over $100. Supplies probably cost me $30 (everything always purchased when it's 40% or more off regular retail price). I added the thick cardboard R.... it was just plain craft color, but I should have painted it black, but instead, glued black cardstock to the front, tried to ink the edges. On Pinterest I saw a cute wreath similar, with the family monogram on it.... I think it adds the perfect touch... and makes it 'new' and improved for 2011.

Frugal Paper Crafts

Have I said it recently? I think I have.... I love paper crafts!!!!! It's amazing what you, I or 'they' come up with and share on the internet... and all you have to do is look at it... like it or not, and if you have the time, the patients and a few bucks if you are frugal like me.... try to re-create it!!

Look at my cool $.99 cent frame (above) that I got at GW yesterday. Over the weekend I found a Pinterest pin of something similar.... birth dates of the family members with the wedding date in the middle. Can I just say AWESOME!!!! Zip bam boom....off my PrintMaster program... and ta-da!!! This would work great for a friend or family member.... highlighting the special day, be it their birthday or day 'they' were established!

And then, re-posting a pic from my paperback book rose wreath. I also found a wreath for $.99 at GW and a huge oldish paperback book for $.89.... I had a few comments on the simple cuteness of these buds. The wreath is a smashing success on my front door!!! A bit time consuming, but idle hands are the devils workshop.... how easy it is to roll a few (100) of these buds to make a totally eye catching wreath.... so I'm in the process of making another one... for someone??? I don't know, and I wouldn't tell you!

Going somewhere interesting this afternoon. If it's worthy... I will post about it on the other side! Just a tease.

Turn the world on with a Smile

Pretty papers like this could make any card look beautiful! The sentiment if fun, if not true, and a small punched leaf completes this simple notecard.

huh? Is that why complete strangers go up to people they don't even know and say "smile"? A smile makes any person look beautiful? Life can't be that bad!

I hated that!!! Who are you to come up to me and tell me what I should be doing! But I guess I did look so serious, and a person with a smile looks happy and hopeful and more beautiful!!

Did you know it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? :)
I love to sing the theme song to the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Who can turn the world on with a Smile, who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile!!

I love people who can make me laugh, when I don't even want to smile!

Being Awesome

Gift ideas!!
Card packs one for them, and one for you! Perfect!!! If you are thinking of what to get a girlfriend, aunt, co-worker.... anyone really....who you think loves the idea of giving and receiving unique and whimsical cards (one of a kind you wont find anywhere else).... have I got the gift for them... and you!!!

My friend SS was attending a 50th birthday party over the weekend. Fifty is a special number, don't you think? Going to a party like that (thank goodness it wasn't stupid gag gifts!!) the more you are in tune to a unique gift, the more you tug at your birthday friend's heart strings....isn't that special??

How fun is Charley with bing bonging attenae, on top of her curly head and then sitting on top of a special wrapped cute gift... next to her favorite naughty girl drink!!!! SS got 6 Charley cards blank notes for herself, and the birthday girl got 6 note cards, all similar yet different with the saying.... Well-behaved women seldom make history!

Be in the business of being awesome!

History in the Making

Here are two cards in a series of 6, of the wonderful Charley. I'm sad to say that Charley passed away about 1 month ago from a progressive internal issue that was diagnosed 5 months ago. Her mom, as should be, is so sad about her loss.... but just like home videos, pictures, internet and doodling.... her image can be shared for a very long time!!** all cards are my own whimsical designs

All the cards were centered around Charley of course, but the saying and the different cocktail glassware were important too.. the cards ALL read... Well-behaved women seldom make history. So true.....

Sissy was in the room when I gave SS the cards and we told her..... this means however, wait until after your 40.... hee hee.... don't want you messing up your reputation to make any kind of history right now!!! But have fun! Be alive. Take a chance!!

It's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring!

Loads of Love

There are some stamps that just 'got it'. I think this one from SU! is well over 5 years old. But I love when it comes back to life, some talented stamper finds it in their stash and creates a new or old way to use it again. They post it to their blog or SplitcoastStampers for all the world to see. I used to years ago, draw this fun jalopy.... then realized when I went to a stamp camp how tiny it really was, and how big I was making mine.

I also thought cartoons in the newspaper were that size of 2"x3". Then I realized they make them on big design boards and they are shrunk down. Duh!!! No wonder I was having so much trouble with the details. I am not a trained artist.... all natural talent here, ha ha ha ha hee!!!!

Fun tags to put on an awesome gift.... or tuck in a lunch box! I'm loving the black and white and red combo... very classic I must say! One tag, to lots of tags!!!

Purse-onality, plus you've got a great big heart

Inspirational card.... doodles galore.... cool color combo...fun girly cards!

Perfect for the girl just going off to school, a girlfriend going through a tough time, your mom, sister...aunt. Some ladies don't like to be called girls... but it's like any other word... it depends on the context and who is saying it.... like snap your finger, pucker your lips and say "you go gurlllllllll" uh-huh and put your hands on your hips and tilt your head to the side!!

Yeah, I see you trying it!!

Surprise inside with a pop up purse. I love this simple dollar stamp from M's.
