It's a Dog Doodler's Life

I am a pet owner... what the heck... I'm a mom to a fur baby.... Tucker... is not an unusual breed, but I've not met many Pomeranian dog owners.

He may look different to some, because we get his hair... coat.... trimmed.  He is considered a Toy... of small stature.  He is cute and cuddly... and he is NOT a puppy.... I think he is over 10 years old, we got him as rescue ... and as the years go by... I'm not sure anymore his exact age.

He is a cutie!  I've  talked about him on the blog before.   He and his big brother from another mother Cooper, who we lost in September 2016 to bone cancer, have certainly given me something to doodle about! Clink on the links on the left side of the blog, you will see the Adventures of Cooper & Tucker!

Here is my digi doodle version of Tucker.  I've made him into greeting cards.  He's had blog posts and Instagram posts..... doesn't he look innocent?
Who me???
This is one of the things I like best about being a doodler... I get the chance to create what I see in my mind... and share it with others.

Sweet Caroline - Dream Believer

Another thing I get to do... being a creative, card maker, doodler... artist extraordinaire.... I get to make gifts for friends and family.  Note cards as gifts... you will see doggies (and other animals) Caroline and Gus made into fun cards...  I sure hope the receiver used these fun personalized cards.... sent them out and spread the SHINE.... brighten someone's day....

Sweet Caroline - Wishing on a Star

Doodling someone's pet, or creating them as a whimsical caricature... with their hobby....school colors... favorite flower.... you name it.... is a great way to give a special personalized gift!  We need to send and receive more FuN MaiL..... happy mail, not bills and junk mail!

Dotted Doggie - Paper Pieces

And ... of course... there are all kinds of cards to be made with all kinds of colored paper, shapes and textures.  I love paper and I love putting colors together in unique ways!

I come and go with consistent posting.... but I'm pushing ahead a little bit more about SNAIL mail, cards, affirmation, love, recognition ... bottom line... people love to receive FUN MAIL.... validation that friends and family are thinking of them.... a card with a few words can truly
Brighten Someone's Day!!!!
contact me via email if I can create something for you
Many unique cards in stock, starting at $3.50 + s&h

Love Fits

Life happens.
So does death. Sadly
When it is a furry friend there
are so many different emotions.

Greeting cards are simple.

I create them from the heart.

Pet owners are my kind
of people.

Peace

Dance Like No One is Watching

Well, in this case.... Tucker is watching...
maybe he is actually singing Dog Tunes!!

Ever have one of those days.... just a ruff one,... things don't seem to be going right?

In all honesty, only your loved ones care.... and (sad to say) that's debatable....

Just shake it off!!!!!

Think about it though..... if you have friends and family.... for a moment you can bring a smile to their face..... sending snail mail.... or as I call it FuN MaiL..... is a special way to let someone know you are thinking about them!!!!

No peeking!  I just might be dancing around the house searching for my muse.... and creating a card you didn't even know you needed!!!!

Now go and brighten someone's day!!!

Little vs. Big

Realize the impact of the little things.

I admit it.
It's very hard to stop and smell the flowers in this busy world, but for the last 5+ years I literally do just that, STOP. Smell flowers.
They all don't smell as pretty as they look, however! But I stop and take a moment and enjoy the view.

This cute 9 pound fur ball is feisty.
His bite IS worse than his bark.
He is so little.
His bark, his antics his presence, he brings such a level of joy and spunk to our quiet house.

Tiny reminders to SHINE

According to the authors The Power of Small: Why Little things make all the Difference, our smallest actions, words, and gestures often lead to our greatest long-term rewards and outcomes.

Enjoy the little things in life for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.

Number 5 of 10  Principles of Shine,  Realize the impact of little things.  Shining means being as good at the little stuff as you are at the big stuff, it means treating small opportunities with as much attention to detail as you do the big ones, House of Shine.

Dog Poop HitsThe Fan

Every once in a while I need to write a post that is just for the awe factor ....

Sometimes.... well, most the time.... this little doggie is so darn cute!!!! I can't stand it!

Here Tucker is ... just chillin' out on his dad's lap.

He's going to be 5 years old soon!  All my babies are growing up!

Because I love dogs soooo much.... have I mentioned that before?  I started taking a class in October at a local dog training facility.  I was learning how to be a puppy and basic obedience class instructor.  Every other week I spent 3 hours in the classroom learning about dog behaviors and finding out methods that this facility used to train the owners of new pets.

After 18 hours of classroom work, it was time for us 'students' ....  I think maybe 8 in all (the classes were spilt on two different days, Thursday afternoon which I attended and Saturday mornings), to start working on the training floor. New puppy classes began the first of the year.  However, we had extremely cold weather in January and 2 classes were cancelled because the facility owner didn't want puppies coming out in -5 degree weather.

Although there were a few glitches assisting on the training floor, I instantly knew that I liked helping the new puppy owners training their puppies and dogs proper basic behaviors and manners.

Then something happened.

The owner of the facility had a possible heart attack (details are sketchy) ... and one day we all (student trainees, trainers and dog owners) got an email that stated she was taking a sabbatical and was closing the facility and selling everything.  Five days later the place closed.

Luckily, (hopefully) it wasn't one of those horror stories that is documented on a news show.  She refunded paid tuition for classes booked in advance.  And us students were given certificates of completion of the training course. We had about 6  more weeks of floor training with the owners and their dogs.

It was quite disappointing.  But we'll see ... she told us when the doctor said she is healthy enough, she is planning on opening a new larger facility in 6 to 8 months.

In the mean time ... stay tuned!  A new POSSIBILITY is in my future!

All Tied Up With A Bow

being creative
is not
a hobby
it is a
way of life

How many mantras can one person have, honestly!?!

But I have tried and failed.

If I do not create something every single day... I really feel a part of me let down.

Is that truly possible????  Possible... get it?  Since this is my year of  Possibilities.

I feel I let myself down if I don't create something, every day.

Today, I will show you some things I've been working on... and hopefully I don't get interrupted by a call from the local police department!

As you may know, I dabble a bit in making greeting cards!!!

I've had a request for 40 cards with an animal theme to them.  My task is complete . . . 20 sets of two cards w/envelope each all packaged up sweetly with a bow!

I'm doing it pro bono in hopes that somewhere at the IACUC Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees  (at the University of Iowa) I might generate some clientele.  My Iowa sales rep is quite handsome and I couldn't turn down his request... let's see if he can sell me!!

What comes to mind when you think of the word SHINE?  I'm still a fan favorite of the House of Shine and I think big things are going to happen this year!

If I were to drop some playing cards would they fall perfectly like this?  I think not, but to get them in one picture, one must lay them out flat to be seen.  I'm taking a class, that I can't even describe, but I get to play and get my hands dirty and the results Pick Me Up!

So, if you are still with me... and curious about the call from our local Police, no need to be alarmed...

I witnessed a car accident yesterday ... I was on my way to an appointment and feel guilty I didn't stop to help.  So, I called the non-emergency line and left my name and number with the officer that was on duty for the incident.  I'm not sure if they need any further information.

All I can say is that when you are driving a vehicle... use your turn signals, if you use your turn signals... make sure you decide beforehand where you are going to turn and if your view is blocked.... certainly wait patiently until the road is clear.  Until I actually see the car turning in front of me.... it will take me a very long time to BELIEVE an oncoming car is actually turning... I will wait until the car actually is turning into position!

A Beautiful Sight

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening
On Providence Lane, snow is glistenin'

Week # 50 LIFE'S simple pleasures - winter

A lot of people all over the US got a strong dose of winter weather over this past weekend.  Mother Nature and all her furry dumped lots of snow and frigid cold, closing schools and cities in the south. They got their first look at power outages and black ice of the winter season that has just begun!

Watching the snow from inside, as I dream by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate, is the best way to enjoy winter!... a beautiful sight.

The lyrics to Winter Wonderland were written by Richard Smith with music by Felix Bernard.  It was  released in 1934 and has been recorded by over 150 musical artists.  It has a seasonal theme (winter) but it never mentions Christmas, although it is a classic song sung at Christmas time.

Maybe in our back meadow I can build a snowman... and pretend he's a friend of Cooper Brown....

I've already heard it.  Our first snowfalls, cold temperatures and holiday bustle ... and people are tired of it. We need winter so that we can appreciate spring a little more.

One kind word can warm three winter months.
- Japanese Proverb

Go check out the snow, the Eskimo way... oh no, is that politically correct???
