October Stamp Camp projects

Here are two of the 5 projects we made last week at Stamp Camp. The Cornicopia was real fun!!We used embossing powder to stamp the image, but colored in with pencil, markers and blender pens. It was a lot of little tiny stuff to color, fun to do once in a while, but I can't imagine doing multiple cards with this image. I love the color combo...egg plant and green (?) of the thank you card. The top paper with the flower image is a rice paper, so it is very light, feels almost like material. The image sits really well on it. I forget about creating cards with a 'touch' of ribbon off the side like that. See, this is why I go to stamp camp, to learn NEW techniques, to re-use old tips that I have forgotten about, and just to have fun!!!

Peek-a-boo

I was inspired to do this card.... I believe he is a Whipper Snapper design....I have fun drawing and seeing how close I can get to the actual image. Years ago I used to have to pencil the image first, then draw over that in black ink, then go back and erase the lines. Now, I draw.... keeping my eye on their outline and the proportion.... sometimes the nose is not placed right, or one ear is longer than the other, but other wise... I copy well!!! hee hee.... it is such a fun challenge for me!
I like how I placed the ribbon on this vertical card... I used the little 'tab' punch from SU! to create the hole to run the ribbon through... would be cute too, if I did it on the other side. Thanks for looking!!

Ode to Kim

Continuing in the fall spirit... here is a card inspired by Kim! Although I sew on my cards often, I neatly sew (perfectly) around the edges... not going to far outside the lines...Zig zag just around the frame.... this is a randomly stitched card. You might have to click on it to enlarge to see the white stitches. Stamp of leaves is from TAC... Happy Fall is a tiny 3 pack from M's (last years model) I like it! and I will do more! Thanks to my #1 Fan... Kim.

Happy Day y'all!

One crazy fall day...

I woke up to temperatures reaching and stretching to get to 27 degrees . The leaves were everywhere, dusting the sidewalk with orange, yellow and fiery red... some green ones were still trying to hang onto their branches. Yep, that's how it was this morning walking Cooper!!
Went through my stash of fall chatchkis....ribbon, popped up leaf... have you seen this cute punch out using the scallop punch? Threaded the ribbon through and cuttlebugged just the bottom of the card with an embossing folder.

Caught a bug - googly eyes

I'm using up some old SU! patterned paper and was inspired to make this card. I cut out my germs and popped them up, adding the google eyes!!! Know anybody who is sick and needs a little pick me up? Inside: feel better soon!

Metal Tags

A question was posed... and I'm here to post with a visual answer.... Metal Tags found at the Office Supply store. (I think by the price tag stickers and misc. office cool stuff)

and

Vellum tags found at a Hobby Store. You can switch out the white string with your package ribbon... or place a funky fiber through.... stamp or write directly on the tag... or punch out a circle from your wrapping paper.

Love and Laughter

Anniversary cards... although eerily the same, with all the same colors, can you spot the differences in these two cards??? Stamps are by TAC and the dots around all the frames are courtesy of inspiration through Markie's Mom's blog. I thought this would be a perfect fall anniversary card... the butterfly is popped up....used punches and nestabilities scallop circles, and the cuttlebug embossing folders... click on the pictures to get a larger image and you can see the intricate lines the embossing folders do on the white card stock. Last count... 7 areas where the cards are different... how many do you see?

Completely inspired card... these little doggies are soooo cute. There is nothing here you can gather, other than the layout... simple! I used the Stamping Up! scalloped punch for the edge, and I used a glitter pen for their bows! Although they look the same, they do seem to have personalities of their own.

Here's another Just Chicken in! Card. I used my new SU! Patterned paper.... Nestabilities for the scallop square. Black card stock makes the image pop!! Glitter pen on his beak!!

Zindorf - 10/20

Here's a card I made last week off the tutorials from Michele Zindorf's blog. I don't often have the exact stamps she does, sometimes I even have to draw my image, but I follow her great tutorials and really love the techniques. She brayers the background colors... I still haven't taken the time to master that... so I ink up my cheap make-up sponges and push the color into the paper! I also limit myself... if she has too many steps to create the card, I often pass... it isn't 'worth' the time invested in making the card.

Happy Fall Day! There was frost on the pumpkin this morning!!

Double flap, tucked birthday card

Oh, I don't know if that's what it's called, but it sure is cute, complicated at first, but now I love it!!!! My mom D, who likes my cards, but doesn't like to pick through them and find any she likes... received hand stamped cards from another source.... heaven forbid... a lady friend of hers thought she would like some cards, un beknowst to her... that D. my mom, has a creative genius for a daughter. So my mom, D.... brought the goods one day, and I was inspired by this card layout!!!
It's a 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" layout... fold card in half, and make one side of the fold 3" ( that is now the flap up from the bottom of the card). Open card and adhere patterned paper (the paisley) Cut another card stock 3" x 7"... fold in half (that's the darker blue) adhere backside to the pp of the main card. And then I embellished inside and out. The circle punch at the bottom is popped up, and you tuck the top flap of the mini card in that to keep the card shut. Too, too cute!! If you need more details, just email me at prdesigns1@sbcglobal.net... oh I love matching patterned paper, they make these type of cards so coordinated!!!

who you callin' cupcake?

inside: Happy Birthday, sweetie!!!

Oh, this one is completely cased (except for the words on the inside)....

Just simply adorable... the cartoon lady with squiggly hair... I'm figuring out how to do cartoon shoes... working on that one. Used water color pencils and the blender pen, worked on the shadow with a grey copic marker. Stickle glitter on the star.

This card was really fun to re-create.

Sit on this!!

A friend gave me an old chair that was in their storage - spring a year ago. I painted the chair and left it out all winter, I guess it was un-prepared for the harsh mid-west winter we had....and it crumbled a bit and lost it's paint... so I scrapped it down and re-painted it and came up with this sunflowers and lady bugs!
Then, as a gift, I gave it back to said friend.... she has a cabin and can use it to hold a plant, a cute little chair out by the water's edge... she said something like underneath their phone. Any who... a gift re-gifted with a twist. I put two coats of polyurethane on it!

Frankie

Ah, ain't he a cute monster?? Of course I was inspired by a few cards on SCS. Just used a green card stock, I think there is a die cut for the hair (I've seen it used as frosting on a cake too) but I just cut wiggled shapes. His eyes and nose are just different circle punches. Sponged the green edges to give it some depth shading... drew in the mouth and scars. I've seen other monsters they've created... mummies, pumpkin faces etc.... great cards for little monsters in the family!! Oh, I'm thinking ELF faces at Christmas time.

Three tulips

I think that's what they are? I was inspired to draw this card. Working again on my shading. Tied a knot and glued that on, as opposed to punching holes and tying it through. I learned, probably about a year ago... I always used my tiny hole puncher to make the holes for my brads... try as I may, they never lined up or were evenly spaced. Then I saw a tutorial... using the paper piercer and template... evenly spaced holes, every time. If your interested in knowing more about what I'm saying... just leave a comment!!

Are ewe having a birthday?

I was 'inspired' to create this cute little lamb-i-kins birthday card. I just love how white fluffly lambs look best when colored with a light shade of blue!!
In case you were curious this is the method of my madness when posting cards to my blog.
I am inspired from SCS, other blogs and galleries, magazines and cards I receive. Then mostly at night I create maybe one or two cards. At the end of the week after I have signed the cards and completed them, I take pictures of my weeks worth of creation. Then I upload the digital pictures to my Kodak Share picture gallery. Each day, when I check emails and special places I visit regularily, I go to my blog and make a new post... find my picture gallery and a card that either I haven't showcased yet or I pick the one that feels like the day... upload and write a description of either different techniques, where I was inspired to create the card, what it means to mean and then I post it. The one thing I must do now... is delate tons of pictures from the past year of all the cards I've posted... it's got to be over 200 pictures.
I hope you enjoy seeing what I make, as much as I am having FUN creating!!!!!
Buy cards!!!

Zindorf - 10/6

This is a card from last weeks tutorials at Zindorf
blog. The way she shows techniques are so cool, I truly never think of that. She opens my mind. The neat difference about this card is the scrunched up plastic used to create the cloud cover over the moon. She suggested cellophane, but I was too lazy to get up from my chair and just used some plastic wrapper from my studio trash and smooshed it into the ink and then dabbed it on. Wa-la.... instant eery cloud cover.

Lollipop Tree

I don't know, is that what it's called? I was just inspired by this image on SCS. I drew the stem/trunk and then punched out circles to outline other punched out circles (leaves). Colored them slightly with Groovy Guava... some are popped up, others are laying flat. Randomly stamped the background paper with a sponge. Dotted stickles at the top and the ribbon has a knot in it as opposed to a bow.
So, I'm working (part time) temporarily as a receptionist at a very busy Ophthalmology office. The doctor is an eye surgeon... cataracts and lazer etc.... this part time job is cutting into my play time!!! :0)

A cat and a bee

Okay, so I copy.... I know that! Here is a Fluffle's card I (I was inspired to draw) copied. How simple is it though?... a couple zip zips, a line here, a three whiskers there, dot dash dot.... and there you go. $1 stamp hello from M's... a few years old.
It's hard to believe I've been creating these (and all) types of cards with my creative greetings! faux company now for 6 years!!!! Thousands of unique hand made cards later, I'm still learning every day, having fun drawing and coloring like a first grader, and being inspired by so many creative people who post to blogs and galleries to strut their stuff.
It sure has kept me off the streets!!! Wanna buy a card you see on my blog? All cards and similar knock off's for sale, starting at $2 plus shipping!!!

Silly Bird Punch Outs

Have I ever said how inspired I get from SCS?
(I think if you were to look back, I probably say it at least once a week!!) The things some talented (wo)man designs, and then other creative people use the visual idea and think about ways to manipulate and shape that idea, and then people like me come along and give it a try, and here's what I end up with!
The two birds are just a punched circle cut in half. Their wings are a circle that was run through a cuttlebug folder, then cut in half. Easy triangles for beaks! Google eyes! The owl is a circle punch, then a scalloped punch, cut in half. Word window punches for the feet and beak, the tag punch for the face, just keep it open, circles for the eyes and moon! OMG!! Easy peasy!!
For more ideas, SCS has a whole link just for punched out animals and things, using the basic punches most crafters already have, check it out here if you are interested.

Candy Corn Cast of Characters

Candy Corn is a confection popular in the United States, particularly around Halloween. Each piece is approximately the size of a whole kernel of corn, as if it fell off a ripe or dried ear of corn. The candy is usually tri-colored with a yellow base.
I saw, I was inspired, I drew.... trick or treat. I'm going to have to work on this a bit. I think all of my black markers are starting to lose ink... and I still try to use them, as opposed to tossing them in the trash where they belong!!!
These guys are really cute... took a few extra scraps and did the swiss dots embossing folder... little black left over for the corner punch!
Speaking of corn, this morning, one of the corn stalk bunches was 'pulled' over. My string broke or some little animal was trying to get MORE corn cobs. It rained all day yesterday... so they are very damp and plyable. Got out my handy dandy twine and put the decorations all back up, nice and tidy... now the little birds can feed off the corn inbetween the bricks!!

In a fall groove

Hi there... experimenting with some fall stamps I got from TAC. I was inspired for this layout off of SCS. I smacked and smooshed ink together to achieve the background paper.. it gives it an airy orange/guava fall glow. Then each stamped image was cut out, and I used my square scallop nestabilities as the frame work for each leaf. I could just use this card for a simple hello note... no stamped words... but it packs a punch.

Soccer Birthday Girl

I did two versions of this card, one purple, one pink.... obviously!!! I was inspired by someone on SCS.
The polka dot circles, just small punch outs, and then I used a white gel pen... dotting.... I think it's a good contrast to the checks.
I used my water color pencils to color in the images, and used the blender pen to soften colors.
Inside they simply say... Happy Birthday. A great little card for a girly girl soccer player!

Wilamena Witch dishes!!

Catchy title huh? I knew it would draw you in. I know that's not her name... but what do you expect for 7:30 in the morning!!!
Loving this cute $1 stamp from M's. Again, I'm working with scraps in my ever growing box. But, you'll be happy to know, all my scrap patterned paper in this box is smaller than 5" x 6" .... so it's just cut to be put on a card and doodled up!!
There is a little stitching on the card, you have to look close. Just a fun... Happy Halloween card!!!
Have a great day!

Two Sympathy Cards

Sadly, it's that time of the year when people are requesting more sympathy cards. Here are a few that I made. I've realized that some rubber stamp companies make their stamps... crooked! As much as I try to get the words to be horizontally correct, these words still go down hill!!!
Nothing hand drawn here. One simple card, one with more detail.
I don't want to leave today with a sad note. So I think I will post a 'more' happier card. So for those who don't like to make sympathy cards. Try a bit to go outside your comfort zone, and know that the special card you make will be making someone know how much you care for them and their family.

Two Zindorfs this week

I'm starting to run out of my Baja Blue ink, seems like Michelle Zindorf uses a lot of blue for her sky and background colors.
I didn't have any stamps to follow the cardinal inspiration, so the birch tree, bird and cabin in the snow are all mine!! I like leaving the card white to make the snow!!!
On the butterfly card she had another image, but I feel sometimes as long as I follow her tutorial and get the steps and the card turns out... I have a wonderful outcome!!!
Any of you following my saga, I got a job this week! I'll give more details probably in a post over the weekend!!
Happy Day!!!

Charley card 4

Charley is looking at the pink butterfly. This was a very simple card. I had some scrap stripped papper that was fairly light in color (and weight) and I just drew on an image of dog. The only stamp is a Stamps by Judith heart that I made into the butterfly wings! A fun and simple notecard.
Charley's mom has been under the weather, so she hasn't been able to claim her customer appreciation cards!!! Feel better S.S.
Happy Day!!
