Hot Time in the Old Town

Our Chicago adventure did not end as abruptly as my posting here on my blog.

Sorry for the delay.  We went onto another 3 day adventure to Missouri.... but you'll have to wait for  another time to hear the story about that!

After we left the Bean we walked up toward the Wrigley Building (not seen in this picture) to 400 North Michigan Avenue to catch a 90 minute Chicago River and Lake Michigan/Architectural Tour on Wendella Boats.
It turned out to be a very beautiful and hot day in the Windy City.

Weeks #26 LIFE'S Simple Pleasures - day adventure  tourist in your 'own' town.

Each building is unique and rich with history and our tour guide Jim is a proud Chicagoan (they are specially trained guides with a passion for 'their' hometown) we heard styles like, Art Deco, Neoclassical, Craftsman, Modern and Revival.  We also heard names being throne in like Frank Lloyd Wright, Trump, Kennedy, & Wrigley.

I am very happy we got to enjoy a hot day in Chicago and just be a tourist with no real agenda.  We saved money by bringing a picnic lunch and ate it in Millennium Park.  And for the 2nd time as well, we got stopped on the streets near the train station while they were taping some sort of commercial? ... closed off streets, extras, crews with clipboards and walkie talkies.  We even went Geocaching and were 1 for 2!!  The sights, the smells, the sounds... those are all part of the big city adventure!!!

It's nice to get back on the Metra commuter train and go back 'home'.  I think the suburbs are more my style!

Late one night, when we were all in bed,
Old Mother Leary left a lantern in the shed,
And when the cow kicked it over, she winked her eye and said,
"There'll be a HOT time on the old town tonight."
FIRE, FIRE, FIRE
